The Dietary Guidelines for Australian adults is a 274 page report developed by the National Health and Medical Research Council to promote the potential benefits of healthy eating, not only to reduce the risk of diet-related disease but also to improve the community's health and wellbeing.
The guidelines contain a section with information on the nutrition of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. The Dietary Guidelines for Australian adults is a useful document which can provide background information for nutritionists, students and health workers. Although some of the statistical information is now out of date, the background information and rationales for the recommendations are still valid. It also contains the recommended dietary guidelines for Indigenous Australians. There have been no updates to this document.
