This guide has been produced for mental health practitioners who work with children and adolescents experiencing acute stress disorder (ASD) or posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD). The guide provides an overview of the important points to consider when assessing and treating these mental health disorders in children and adolescents.

The following content is included in the guide:

This guide does not include content specific to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children and young people. It should be read in conjunction with the Australian guidelines for the treatment of acute stress disorder and posttraumatic stress disorder.
