This action plan fridge magnet aims to raise awareness among Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people about the warning signs of heart attack and what to do in an emergency. This is important as heart disease is the number one killer of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and the greatest contributor to the gap in life expectancy.
Two versions of the magnet are available. For people living in urban and regional areas, the action plan directs people to call triple zero (000). For people living in remote areas, calling triple zero (000) is not always possible or the most appropriate action. In these instances the action plan also encourages people to go to their local hospital or clinic.
