These story cards were produced as an Aboriginal specific therapy tool in the alcohol and other drugs sector. The resource kit contains picture cards, which depict 25 'life areas'. Health workers use the cards to encourage communication between counsellor and client, and engage the participant(s) in a therapy session.
The story cards were developed in partnership with Aboriginal people to ensure that they were appropriate and culturally sensitive as a therapeutic (healing) tool.

This resource has been found to be well accepted by both Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal counsellors and clients in a number of settings including drug and alcohol and mental health services. The cards have been successful in improving the communication skills of client and helping them to identify issues that are important to their overall mental wellbeing. The resource would be suitable for individual or group based therapy sessions.
