The little red threat book (2009)

Description

This booklet provides information on suicidal behaviour in Central Australia, and is appropriate for community members and people working in mental health and related fields. The booklet brings together community members' thoughts and experiences that were shared at a Suicide as a threat community workshop held by the Life promotion program in Central Australia. The workshop was held to understand suicidal behaviour, to identify how community members can support each other, and to search for solutions to the problem.

• What can we do for the one making the threat (of suicide)?
• What can we do for the one being threatened?

When to use this resource

The information in this booklet will be useful for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people on how to deal with a family member or friend who is threatening suicide. It also includes information on what others can do to help someone who is trying to manage a suicide threat by a family member or friend. People working in the area of mental health, or in related fields, may find this booklet helpful in understanding suicidal behaviour in the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community.
