Description

This leaflet on mental health and substance use has been developed for young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. It seeks to raise awareness about this type of dual diagnosis by providing information on the following:

• what is dual diagnosis
• why do people get a mental illness
• what to look for
• ways to help
• where to go for help.

The leaflet includes artwork and wording that is relevant and appealing to young people.

When to use this resource

The information in this leaflet would be helpful for young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people who are experiencing mental health and substance use issues, or who may have friends or family experiencing these issues. The leaflet should be made available in places visited by young people, and health workers could pass on the leaflet to their young clients.
