The first and second editions of the Diagnostic guide were printed in 1997 and 1999. The guide contains the 4-digit diagnostic code which was originally created to address limitations in the conventional approach to diagnosing individuals with prenatal alcohol exposure. This third edition contains key updates based on the use of the 4-digit code over the past seven years by health professionals in the US and Canada.
