Guidelines for the management of STIs were first published in 1997. This third edition (Guidelines for Managing Sexually Transmitted Infections 2006) includes new information about mandatory reporting requirements for STIs in minors, testing recommendations for high-risk populations and changes to gonorrhoea treatment.
Different approaches to prevention, education, testing, treatment and management of STIs and HIV are often required in different areas of Western Australia (WA) consequently, a supplement providing guidance for practioners working in endemic regions of WA: the Kimberley, Pilbara and Goldfields is also available.
