Booklet
The Living strong: healthy lifestyle cookbook was developed in response to requests from clients attending the Healthy weight and Living strong programs that have been successfully conducted in Queensland since 2005. The programs were designed specifically for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander adults. Clients of the programs felt there was a need for a cookbook with healthy recipes to complement the program and to assist them in making healthier choices when preparing meals for their families.
The cookbook provides a variety of healthy recipes including some traditional cooking ideas. The recipes are provided to encourage people to use more vegetables, fruit, lean meat and fish to make quick and easy nutritious meals. For each of the recipes there is information provided about the number of serves of fruit and vegetables. The cookbook shows steps by step instructions for each recipe with coloured photographs and tucker tips.
