Indigenous perinatal mental health resources (2007)

Description

This resource package has been developed to address mental health issues during the perinatal period (the later stages of pregnancy and shortly after birth). The resources are a mixture of videos, DVDs, and booklets, and feature Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women's experiences before and after birth. They also contain general information and contacts for further help.

The resouces include:

• Social and emotional wellbeing when you have a new baby - pamphlet series
• Boodjarri business: maternal mental health resource for Aboriginal health workers - booklet.

When to use this resource

These resources could be used by health professionals when working with Aboriginal mothers, their babies, and families who may be experiencing problems such as depression or anxiety during pregnancy or in early parenthood.
