Overview

The Victorian Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation's (VACCHO) sexual health and blood-borne virus (BBV) program aims to support VACCHO member organisations to deliver sexual health and BBV care by providing advocacy, training, support and health promotion services.

VACCHO works in partnership with a range of sexual health and BBV service providers to develop and deliver initiatives such as a condom health promotion campaign, a BBV training project and a hepatitis-themed theatre production. Other components of the program include:

• production of Koori specific pamphlets on sexually transmitted infections and BBVs
• training workshops on sexual health for health workers
• sexual health information sessions upon request to communities
• statewide distribution of condoms and health promotion resources
• support for the OUTBLACK gay male Indigenous support group

This program is funded through the Office for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health (OATSIH).
