Oongkalkada Landfill Project

Overview

The aim of the Oongkalkada Landfill Project was to minimise contamination of the environment through the following activities:

The plans to erect a vermin proof fence did not occur due to funding issues but the fencing will still be completed in the future in stages.

A community awareness campaign used posters and public workshops to inform the wider community and visitors of the recovery program to re-use organic waste as well as packaging and as many synthetic products as possible.
