Overview

The Mt Theo outstation program was developed in response to crisis levels of petrol sniffing in Yuendumu. The Mt Theo outstation provides a safe place for petrol sniffers, out of reach of petrol, to undergo cultural counselling and training by traditional owners and elders.

The Mt Theo outstation focuses on young Warlpiri people suffering from the effects of a wide range of personal problems, including alcohol and cannabis misuse, self-harm, domestic and family violence and other criminal or anti-social behaviour (such as drink-driving and property damage). The police, Community Corrections or other government and non-government organisations regularly refer clients.
