Culburra-Orient Point Aboriginal nutrition project

 

Overview

The Culburra-Orient Point Aboriginal nutrition project aimed to address the problem of nutritionally related disease among the Indigenous residents of the region of Culburra-Orient Point, in New South Wales (NSW).

An increase in the level of nutritional education amongst participants was expected to lead to an improvement in dietary behaviours, as well as improved control of, and prevention of, nutritionally related disorders.

The project employed a nutritionist/health promotion officer for 12 months, who was based in the community and responsible for:
