Overview

Red Hill School has developed a kitchen garden at the school to grow vegetables and herbs to use in cooking activities. Students targeted to be involved in the project will be from socially disadvantaged backgrounds. It is hoped to provide these students with an improved understanding of healthy food choices and that the program will improve social relationships between students and increase their physical activity by working in the garden. It is intended that the garden will be used as a teaching tool for a number of units of work including units about recycling, water conservation, healthy bodies and environmental sustainability.
