Remote jobs and communities program (RJCP)

Overview

The Remote jobs and communities program (RJCP) commenced on 1 July 2013, and integrates four existing employment and community development services in 60 remote regions, for Indigenous and non-Indigenous Australians.

This program replaces Job Services Australia, Disability Employment Services, Community development employment projects and the Indigenous employment program, in providing employment, education and community development programs.

The RJCP will have a single provider in each region that will work with individuals, communities and local employers to help more people into jobs and build stronger communities. Around 85 percent of job seekers in these areas are Indigenous.

RJCP is jointly administered by the Australian Government Department of Social Services and Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations (DEEWR).
