The Gundi employment project is a program for Indigenous ex-offenders that aims to help participants gain valuable vocational skills and experience in the building and construction industry sector. Prior to release, Gundi participants build transportable homes which are supplied to remote Aboriginal communities, through the New South Wales Aboriginal Housing Office.
The project has been designed by Corrective Services, New South Wales and is funded through the Department of Education, Employment and Workplace Relations' Indigenous Employment Program. The employment services organisation, A4e Australia, is responsible for delivery of the Gundi employment program at St Heliers Correctional Centre in regional New South Wales.
