Derbarl Yerrigan eye health program

Overview

This program aims to coordinate and deliver eye health services to Aboriginal people in the Perth metropolitan, Great Southern, Wheatbelt and Peel regions. The program integrates services with an optometrist, who provides glasses at discounted prices and, if necessary, refers clients to the Lions Eye Institute for specialist treatment. This program is able to cater to people with diabetes and high blood pressure.

Derbarl Yerrigan's Eye Health Worker also trains Indigenous Health Workers (IHW) and promotes eye health through a variety of activities and speaking engagements.
