Move it mob style is a 20 episode x 30 minute dance-based youth, health and fitness program for television broadcast and online produced by Vibe Australia with support from the Australian Government through the Department of Health and Ageing. The program promotes young Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people's culture through dance and music in a positive high energy format blending music and dance to encourage happy healthy lifestyles.
Sixteen locations across Australia were visited in the filming of the series, showcasing the dance moves unique to Indigenous communities. Each episode consists of a dance workout with three routines. Young people from each community visited were involved in the choreography of the different dance styles used in the routines. Exercises and dance moves are repeated in each of the three tracks, to give the audience a chance to learn the dance combinations. Scattered between these dance routines, and linked by studio hosts, are pre-recorded short health and cultural stories.
From one episode to the next, different moves are collected from the featured communities and taught to the audience, creating a Move it mob style movement vocabulary.
