Overview

The Our community, our cancer support group program is a joint initiative of Derbarl Yerrigan Health Service Inc. and the Cancer Council of Western Australia (CCWA). The group meets on the second and fourth Monday of every month at Derbarl Yerrigan Health Service headquarters in East Perth, WA, from 10:00am to 1:30pm.

The support group provides a culturally friendly environment for Indigenous people with cancer to meet other people going through a similar experience. The group setting is suitable for Indigenous people currently undergoing treatment for their cancer diagnosis, as well as family members and carers. Activities and services provided as part of the group include:

• art therapy sessions
• free health assessments
• access to counsellor
• individual or group yarning sessions
• guest speakers on various topics
• complimentary therapy sessions
• free lunch.
