'The road, my mob and me' preschool road safety program

Overview

The road, my mob and me preschool road safety program resulted in the production of a culturally appropriate workbook for Indigenous children which is currently being distributed to members of the Gandangara Local Land Council and to Indigenous playgroups in south west Sydney, New South Wales (NSW).

The program was created by Playful Beginnings Aboriginal Corporation and funded under the annual National Roads and Motorists' Association (NRMA) Motoring and Services safer driving school road safety grant - Infants and preschool ($2,500). The grant supports programs which educate parents, caregivers or the community about how to keep infants and preschoolers safe in cars or as pedestrians.
