The Desert dogs project is involved in the rescue of abandoned desert dogs. The project originated in Yuendumu township located northwest of Alice Springs which was experiencing an overrun of dogs in the community. The aim of the project was the stabilisation of the breeding cycle for dogs in the community and therefore their health and wellbeing, and the health of the community as a whole. Veterinarian assistance has been provided by Animal Management in Rural Remote Indigenous Communities (AMRRIC)
