Overview

The Nunga STARS (Strengthening true Aboriginal radiating spirit) program is a service offered by Centacare within South Australia. The program aims to reduce the use of alcohol and other substances and related offending for young Aboriginal women. The programs helps enable Aboriginal young women to make positive life choices, increase family connectedness, and develop future pathways by:

• reducing substance misuse
• reducing offending related to substance use
• reducing likelihood of recidivism/reoffending
• enhancing family and community connection, engagement and participation
• enabling Aboriginal young women to further develop wellbeing, cultural identity and esteem.

The service will be delivered through the provision of group work, work with the individual and families, and community engagement.
