Danila Dilba ear health program

Overview

The ear health program at Danila Dilba Health Service aims to maintain good hearing for Indigenous children in the greater Darwin region of the Northern Territory (NT) through the provision of ear disease screening, treatment and education. Danila Dilba provides these ear health services at a main clinic and also takes the program to town-based communities and schools.

In 2015, Danila Dilba clients between the ages of two and 17 took part in a Menzies School of Health Research study to determine the benefit of antiseptic ear washes and a long-term course of antibiotics on ear health and hearing (the I hear beta study).
