The Centre for Appropriate Technology (CAT) is a national Indigenous science and technology not-for-profit organisation. CAT was established in 1980 and is incorporated under the Northern Territory Associations Act. CAT is governed by an Indigenous Board.

This organisation understands the housing and infrastructure challenges in Indigenous communities and is able to provide innovative and robust responses to those challenges. From developing bush hardy appropriate technology products and undertaking applied research, to providing affordable and reliable renewable energy services, the approach undertaken by CAT is grounded in effective engagement and sustainable outcomes for clients.
