Ministerial Council for Suicide Prevention (MCSP)

 

Description

The Ministerial Council for Suicide Prevention (MCSP) was formed in Western Australia as part of a State-wide strategy to address the problem of youth suicide that had emerged as a concern in the late 1980s. Since its inception, the MCSP has broadened its scope to include suicide prevention in all high risk populations, regardless of age.

The MCSP leads the statewide suicide prevention strategy, Suicide prevention 2020: together we can save lives. The MCSP also oversees initiatives to:

The Mental Health Commission provides executive support to the MCSP and the Commissioner for Mental Health is a member of the Council.
