The ERS promotes respiratory medicine in Europe in co-ordination with international societies in the fields of education, patient care, and public health research. The general aim of the ERS is to optimise and develop respiratory medicine by facilitating in scientific exchange, lobbying toward governments, and granting agencies and political bodies to uniform actions, and to define standards.
