Women in Australia have a 1 in 8 risk of developing breast cancer in their lifetime. Screening mammograms are performed for the purpose of detecting breast cancer at an early stage. Women aged 40 years or over are eligible to have a FREE screening mammogram at BreastScreen WA every two years. The BreastScreen WA Program is the State component of the national breast cancer screening program, BreastScreen Australia.
