The National Stroke Foundation is a not-for-profit organisation that works with government, health professionals, patients, carers and consumers on minimising the impact of stroke on the Australian community. The Foundation strives to reduce the impact of stroke by promoting and conducting research into the incidence, causes and treatment of stroke; working with all stakeholders to develop and implement a national policy on the prevention and management of stroke; educating the public about the risk factors and early warning signs of stroke and promoting healthier lifestyles; and encouraging the development of comprehensive and coordinated services for all stroke patients and their families.
