Balunu Foundation

 

Description

The Balunu Foundation (Balunu) is an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander owned and operated, not-for-profit, charity based in Darwin in the Northern Territory. Balunu seeks to break the cycle of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander disadvantage by providing a range of culturally safe and appropriate healing programs for at risk young people. A holistic approach is used to address the social challenges faced by Indigenous young people.

Strategies included in these programs are:

Balunu aims to encourage and support Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander young people to choose positive pathways for their future and to increase their confidence, self-esteem and self-worth. Coaching and mentoring support are provided in conjunction with employment opportunities through experiential learning and 'on the job' training.
