Western Desert Nganampa Walytja Palyantjaku Tjutaku Aboriginal Corporation (WDNWPT)

Description

The Western Desert Nganampa Walytja Palyantjaku Tjutaku Aboriginal Corporation (WDNWPT) was formed in 2003 from what was originally the Western Desert Dialysis Appeal. The Western Desert Dialysis Appeal was founded by the Pintupi people in response to the need for support for renal patients and their families in their country, and to prevent end-stage renal failure patients being forced to move away to seek treatment. WDNWPT has provided a remote renal dialysis centre in Walungurru (Kintore) in Central Australia since 2004, and provides alternative dialysis facilities and social support in Alice Springs from a converted suburban house.
