The Specialist Aboriginal Mental Health Service (SAMHS) is offering exciting career opportunities for Aboriginal and non-Aboriginal people/professionals to work and engage with Aboriginal people and communities in a holistic Whole of Family, Whole of Life service delivery model incorporating strong Aboriginal traditional and cultural elements within the medical model. You will work collaboratively with all service providers (mainstream, forensics, corrective services, community controlled, non-government and private sectors) within the Social and Emotional Well-Being and mental health continuum.
We require a pool of applicants to fill the roles of 4 Indigenous Mental Health Liaison Officers. We are seeking at least 1 male and 1 female Liaison Officer under Section 27(a) of the Equal Opportunity Act. These roles provide an important service liaising & negotiating with Aboriginal communities and health professionals in Western Australia for the development, planning and implementation of culturally appropriate mental health services. You will provide counselling and support, community development, education and training services, and clinical/cultural consultancy to health professionals/community based workers and other service providers. As an Indigenous Mental Health Liaison Officer, you will maintain a small caseload of clients.
