Department of Infrastructure and Regional Development - Black spot programme

Overview

The Black spot programmes target those road locations where crashes are occurring. By funding measures such as traffic signals and roundabouts at dangerous locations, the program reduces the risk of crashes. The Black spot programme began in 1996-97.

The programme has been given $500 million from the Australian Government to continue the project until 2018-19, which includes an additional $200 million from 2015-16 to improve road safety across Australia.
