Balnaves Foundation Indigenous medical scholarships

 

Overview

The Balnaves Foundation is a private philanthropic organisation established in 2006 by Neil Balnaves AO to provide support to charitable enterprises across Australia. The Foundation supports eligible organisations that aim to create a better Australia through education, medicine and the arts with a focus on young people, the disadvantaged and Indigenous communities.

This scholarship is designed to encourage Indigenous students to study medicine at the University of New South Wales (UNSW). The scholarship will normally cover the minimum program duration of six years of the medicine program (BMed MD), subject to satisfactory progress.

To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must be an Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander as identified by their community. The applicant must be in full-time study in the BMed MD program at UNSW. The scholarship is open to students prospectively entering their first year but second year students will be considered.

Applications usually open at the beginning of June and close at the end of November.
