The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Healing Foundation is pleased to offer funding for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations and communities to commemorate and celebrate the fifth anniversary of the National Apology. The Apology was a significant step towards healing for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. This year's theme Healing our past, building our future celebrates people, programs and activities that, since the Apology in 2009, are building on healing young people, Stolen generations, Elders, and families in our communities.

The purpose of the funding is to:

• commemorate the National Apology to Australia's Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples
• celebrate the people, programs, and activities in our communities that are healing our Stolen generations members and strengthening our communities
• to raise awareness of the National Apology and tell the story of the Stolen generations
• to highlight the history and issues faced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and communities and the healing that has taken place
• to bring together our communities, young and old, Indigenous and non-Indigenous.

The funding supports local events and activities in each state and territory. Partnerships with non-Indigenous organisations, driven by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander organisations, are supported. Small grants of $500 and $1000 are available. No more than up to $1000 will be considered in the $1000 category. Projects that align with the theme Healing our past, building our future will be prioritised.
