Gladys Elphick MBE was a highly respected member of the local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community of South Australia. She was particularly active in the development of services in the areas of lobbying. An anonymous donor has provided a bequest to the University of South Australia, School of Health Sciences, to allow a scholarship to be awarded in memory of Gladys Elphick. This bequest has been used to fund a scholarship in support of an Indigenous student undertaking studies within the school, to a total value of $5000.
