Nursing and allied health scholarship and support scheme: allied health postgraduate scholarship

Overview

The Nursing and allied health scholarship and support scheme: allied health postgraduate scholarship replaces the Australian rural and remote allied health professional scholarship scheme (ARRHPS). This scholarship supports qualified allied health professionals including Aboriginal Health Workers (minimum qualification certificate IV) to study a formal post graduate qualification at a recognised universitiy or institution. It is open to all eligible allied health professionals who provide a clinical service in Australia.

The scholarship comes under the umbrella of the Nursing and allied health scholarship and support scheme (NAHSSS) funded by the Department of Health and Ageing. It is administered by Services for Australian Rural and Remote Allied Health (SARRAH).

Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander allied health professionals are strongly encouraged to apply. Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Workers with an Aboriginal Health Worker certificate IV qualification are eligible to apply. A ranking tool for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander allied health professional recognizes the contribution that these allied health workers make to improve health outcomes.

Scholarships will be awarded as a contribution towards the cost of accessing postgraduate qualifications (not for entry-level qualifications). Preference will be given to those undertaking formal postgraduate study by coursework. Scholars will receive up to $15,000 per year (for up to 2 years) for full-time post- graduate study or $7,500 per year (for up to 4 years) for part-time study.
