The Nursing and allied health scholarship and support scheme: allied health postgraduate scholarship replaces the Australian rural and remote allied health professional scholarship scheme (ARRHPS). This scholarship, valued at $30,000, supports qualified allied health professionals, including Aboriginal Health Workers (minimum qualification certificate IV), to study a formal post graduate qualification at a recognised university or institution. It is open to all eligible allied health professionals who provide a clinical service in Australia.
The scholarship comes under the umbrella of the Nursing and allied health scholarship and support scheme (NAHSSS), funded by the Australian Government Department of Health, and is administered by the Australian College of Nursing (ACN).
Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Workers with an Aboriginal Health Worker certificate IV qualification are eligible and encouraged to apply. A ranking tool for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander allied health professional recognises the contribution that these allied health workers make to improve health outcomes.
Scholarships will be awarded as a contribution towards the cost of accessing postgraduate qualifications including, graduate certificates, graduate diplomas or masters programs, including nurse practitioner courses. The level of funding allocated is determined by the period of study required. Scholars will receive $7,500 per semester for full-time study, or $3,750 for part-time study.
