Course summary: This is an abridged version of the Australian College of Rural and Remote Medicine's longer online course, Cultural awareness module for PIP Indigenous health incentive (see link below). This course provides introductory knowledge and awareness of Australian Indigenous cultures in the context of health care. Course topics include:

• why learn about culture in Australian health care?
• health status: demographics, epidemiology and understanding illness from the patient's point of view
• mental health, mental illness and conventional scales: are they cross-culturally sensitive?
• clinical encounter: but how? practical ways to engage cross-culturally.
