Overview

This meeting organised by RANZCOG aims to bring together health professionals with the common interest and desire to improve the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women. The meeting will have a diverse program of presentations covering cultural issues, current public health information, clinical topics, a focus on youth and young women's health and medico-political opinions.

Pre-meeting workshop for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health workers

The workshop will be presented by The Jean Hailes Foundation for Women's Health. It will cover:

• Menstrual cycles: what's normal? what's not? effect on fertility and management options
• Polycystic ovary syndrome: what is PCOS? signs, symptoms, incidence in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women, how it affects health and how it is managed.

HealthInfoNet Cafe

The conference covered a variety of topics related to Indigenous women's health including: pregnancy; incontinence; cancer; menopause; mental wellbeing; family violence; health service delivery; health promotion and education. The Inaugural Alison Bush Memorial Lecture was given by Her Excellency Professor Marie Bashir and Robyn Shields.

Australian Indigenous HealthInfoNet staff member, Jane Burns, gave a presentation and ran a HealthInfoNet cafe at the conference to inform delegates of the benefits of using the website in their work.
