Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander satellite meeting

The Australasian Society for HIV Medicine (ASHM) invites those with an interest in Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health to attend a free satellite meeting adjacent to the Australasian HIV/AIDS conference and the Australasian sexual health conference in Darwin.

The meeting will bring together the clinical, research, education, and policy domains to discuss key issues facing the bloodborne virus (BBV) and sexually transmissible infection (STI) sectors.

Session one will be facilitated by Dr Katie Panaretto and Dr Jason Agostino (National Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation (NACCHO)), and will discuss the work currently happening within NACCHO around the development of STI and BBV indicators for the Aboriginal community controlled health sector.

Session two will be facilitated by James Ward (BakerIDI Central Australia). The group will evaluate the strengths and weaknesses of the current 2010-2013 National Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander blood-borne virus and STI strategy and create a brief to feed into the Department of Health's review and update of the strategy.
