HealthInfoNet Cafe

This conference was organised by The Congress of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Nurses and Midwives. The theme was All the same but totally different. The aim of the conference was to share information and work together towards an integrated approach to improving health care and outcomes for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and also to discuss workforce issues faced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander nurses and midwives. It was relevant to nurses, midwives, educators, policy makers, researchers and administrators. The presentations focused on child health, leadership, professional development, sharing information through social media, clinical experiences, lifestyle programs and projects, workforce issues, racism in the workplace, research, Indigenous tobacco control and cultural awareness.

The Australian Indigenous HealthInfoNet held an internet cafe and conducted a live presentation. The main focus was to promote the new website; The Australian Indigenous ClinicalInfoNet. Christine Potter highlighting many of the features of the ClinicalInfoNet during a presentation to delegates which was well received. The cafe and presentation aimed to raise awareness of how the ClinicalInfoNet could support delegates in their capacity as clinical health practitioners and students. The feedback from delegates was positive with many commenting on how user friendly the website appeared from the demonstrations given and the efficiency of locating relevant resources in one place.
