Overview

This update will provide general practitioners with an overview of the epidemiology, testing principles, pathogenesis, natural history, and treatment of hepatitis B and C infections, HIV, and common sexually transmissible infections (STIs) in Aboriginal populations.

The update will also feature a panel discussion focusing on an overview of local service provisions and referral pathways, and the public health issues and existing barriers to testing and treatment for bloodborne viruses (BBVs) in Aboriginal clients. A presentation will also be given on the relevant Medicare items and the incentives for general practitioners to see more Aboriginal clients.
