Overview

This one-day symposium is being facilitated by the Collaboration for Alcohol Related Developmental Disorders at the University of Queensland. The theme for the symposium is: New horizons for the prevention, diagnosis and management of Fetal alcohol spectrum disorders (FASD).

The keynote speaker is Hon Graham Perrett MP, Federal member for Moreton, and Chair of the House of Representatives Inquiry into FASD. An expert panel will be run by Professor Heather Douglas. Other presentations include:

• Dr Suyinn Chong and Professor Karen Moritz - Animal models of alcohol research
• Dr Janet Hammill - Intergenerational developmental origins in Indigenous population
• Dr Doug Shelton - Establishing a diagnostic clinic
• Professor Heather Douglas - An intervention for the criminal justice system
• Dr Leith Moxon-Lester - A case for better antenatal care to ameliorate or prevent FASD
