Working with people with disabilities in remote and Indigenous communities
Overview
This course is organised by the Centre for Remote Health. This short course/topic will help you further develop your skills and knowledge for working with people with disabilities in this challenging cross cultural context.
The course will include:
- an understanding of the particular issues facing people with disabilities in remote and Indigenous communities
- how to apply the framework of the International Classification of Functioning, Disability and Health (ICF) to your work
- skills in assessment, support and care for people with disabilities and their families across the lifespan
- how to work in partnership with community members and organisations
- ways to support communities in preventing and reducing disability
Registration to be sent no later than 4 weeks prior to course start date.
