Abstract

The Kimberley Aboriginal Medical Service Council standing orders (KAMSC SO) have been developed for the use of Senior Aboriginal Health Workers and Registered Nurses who provide health care at KAMSC affiliated clinics. The SOs enable an authorised person to autonomously handle and administer specific S4 drugs, without a prescribed medication order by a medical officer. The KAMSC SOs are consistent with the Kimberley standard drug list, KAMSC chronic disease and child and maternal health protocols and the Australian therapeutic guidelines. It contains information on:

• assessing an adult
• assessing a sick child
• anaemia
• abdominal pain
• diarrhoea
• burning urine
• burns, cuts, bites, and ulcers
• chest pain
• cough and/or trouble breathing
• ears
• eyes
• mental health
• mouth and throat
• sexually transmitted infections
• skin infection.
