Abstract

This interactive website provides information specifically designed for Indigenous childcare workers and families on middle ear disease (otitis media, OM) and hearing loss.

The website contains information, animated posters and audio visual resources related to ear disease as listed in the categories below.

Information on:

• ways that families can help prevent ear disease
• how to recognise when children are likely to have ear disease and need to be referred to a health clinic
• communication and support strategies to use with children with hearing loss.

Animated posters about:

• ear disease and disadvantage
• good ear health and positive life experiences

Audio visual resources on:

• experiences with ear disease and hearing loss within families and at work
• an example of family support for children with hearing loss
• a variety of training resources for those training early childhood workers including posters, booklets and videos.

The website was created by Phoenix Consulting and the Batchelor Institute of Tertiary Education, and funded by the Commonwealth Department of Health and Aged Care.
