Indigenous names announced in the Queen's Birthday 2012 Honours List

At least eight Aboriginal people were named in the Queen's Birthday 2012 Honours List, which was announced on 11 June 2012 by Governor-General Quentin Bryce.

The Honours List included:

• Officers of the Order of Australia (AO) - Anti-smoking campaigner Tom Calma and reconciliation advocate Shelley Reys
• Members of the Order of Australia (AM) - former West Australian MP Ernie Bridge and educators Professor Colleen Hayward, Professor Jeannie Herbert and Ruth Simms
• Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) - former SA Australian of the Year Ivan Copley
• NSW Public Service Pedal (PSM) - public servant and Indigenous business champion Leilani Watson.
