Funding for remote community clinics in NT
The Northern Territory (NT) Minister for Construction and Infrastructure Gerry McCarthy today announced $5.7 million in funding for remote community clinics as part of the Territory Government's health spending.
'This health package will provide increased health facilities to more than 4000 people in the towns of Borroloola, Gapuwiyak, Millingimbi and surrounds,' he said.
The health clinic package includes the following:
- in Milingimbi off the Arnhem land coast, a $4.5 million clinic will be established including consulting rooms, xray capacity, hearing facilities, a dental clinic, emergency facilities, a renal dialysis room and associated waiting and reception areas
- in Gapuwiyak in north eastern Arnhemland, the Men's Clinic will be replaced with a $350,000 extension to the health clinic and modern fit out
- in Borroloola, $800,000 will be spent on the upgrade of existing remote health facilities to improve service delivery to the town.
