Marching for improvement in Indigenous health in Kalgoorlie

The Goldfields branch of the Western Australian Country Health Service ran their Close the Gap day in Kalgoorlie to great success.

The event, which took place on National Close the Gap day on 22 March 2012, drew five hundred people to Maritana Street in Kalgoorlie for a peaceful march. Health agencies and community groups then gathered for an information fair at Richard Moore Oval.

Public health physician Dr Charles Douglas spoke to the crowd about improvements in the health of Indigenous people, saying that there were already encouraging signs of improvement in the Goldfields region.
