Event held to promote Deadly Choices

Date posted: 29 January 2018

Deadly Choices has hosted a free community day in Mackay, Queensland, to promote their Healthy Living Campaign. Mackay Hospital and Health Service Regional Indigenous Operations Manager, Trudi Sebasio said the Deadly Choices campaign empowered Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people to make healthy choices for themselves and their families.

'It is all about prevention, promotion and early detection of chronic diseases. Chronic diseases impact greatly on our Aboriginal and Torres Straight Island community,' she said.

National Rugby League personality, Preston Campbell, is an ambassador for the Deadly Choices campaign and attended the event. He said he loved coming to events in regional communities to promote the campaign.

'I feel quite privileged cause I get to visit so many different communities... to be able to come to a place like Mackay, I love it,' he added.
